| Summary: | À l'occasion du quatrième centenaire de la mort de Michel Servet (1553-1953), les protestants libéraux de l'Association internationale pour la Liberté religieuse (I.A.R.F.) organisent à Genève un Congrès pour la tolérance autour de la mémoire des deux figures historiques et emblématiques de Michel Servet et de Sébastien Castellion. Ce congrès, qui rassemble des théologiens protestants libéraux et des historiens spécialistes des dissidents de la Réforme, tente le pari d'associer harmonieusement histoire et apologie de la tolérance religieuse sur des bases chrétiennes, dans un contexte encore pré-oecuménique. Si ce manifeste libéral n'a pas le retentissement espéré par ses organisateurs du point de vue idéohgique, il permet cependant une véritable avancée historiographique et une meilleure connaissances des différentes Réformes du XVIe siècle. On the occasion of the fourth centenary of Michel Servet's death (1553-1953), liberal Protestants of the International Association for Religious Freedom (IARF) organized in Geneva a congress for tolerance in memory of the two historical and emblematic figures of Michel Servet and Sebastian Castellion. This congress, which gathered liberal protestant theologians and historians specialized in Reform dissidents, tried to bring together historical and apologetical approaches of religious tolerance on Christian foundations, in a pre-oecumenical context. If this liberal manifest has not the repercussion expected by its organizers from an ideobgical perspective, it led to true historiographical progress and a better knowledge about the different Reforms of the XVIth century. Anläßlich der 400. Wiederkehr des Todes von Michel Servet (1553-1953) organisieren die theologisch liberalen Protestanten der "Association internationale pour la liberté religieuse" (I.A.R.F. — Internationaler Verein für Religionsfreiheit) einen Kongreβ für Religiöse Toleranz in Genf, zum Gedenken an zwei herausragende historische Persönlichkeiten, Michel Servet und Sébastien Castellion. Der Kongreβ versucht, liberale protestantische Theologen und Historiker mit dem Schwerpunkt reformatorischer Dissidenten ins Gespräch zu bringen und dadurch Geschichtsschreibung und Apologie christlich begründeter religiöser Toleranz in einem vor-ökumenischen (im Bezug auf die römische Kirche, d. Übers.] Kontext zu verbinden. Obwohl dieses liberale Manifest in ideologischer Sicht nicht das von den Organisatoren erhoffte Echo bekommt, gelingt bei diesem Kongreβ doch ein wirklicher Fortschutt bei Geschichtsschreibung und Kenntnis der verschiedenen Reformationen des 16. Jahrhunderts. |
