In 1789 there are 500-550 Protestants in Lyon. These inhabitants are often foreigners and are very movable. The majority belongs to the urban elites, there are especially great-merchants. Most of them lived in the center of the city in the middle of the XVIIIth century. Yet they settle more and more along the Rhone, in the new district of Saint-Clair, in the north of the city. In 1789, es gibt 500-550 Protestanten in Lyon. Sie sind oft Fremden und sie sind sehr verstellbar. Die Mehrzahl gehört zu den stadtischen Eliten, sie sind besonders Geschäftsmänner.
