Soudée par une multiplicité de liens (homogénéité résidentielle, forte endogamie, coopération professionnelle et complicité confessionelle), elle jouit d'une réelle spécificité et génère une sociabilité originale sans toutefois constituer un milieu fermé sur lui-même. Partie intégrante du patriciat lyonnais, les élites protestantes participent pleinement à la vie économique, politique, philanthropique et mondaine de la cité et exercent dans tous les domaines une influence de beaucoup supérieure à leur importance numérique. L'ancienneté de son implantation, une situation professionnelle brillante, la précocité d'un courant « œcuménique » légitiment cette position éminente occupée à Lyon par la bourgeoisie réformée. Cette parfaite intégration protestante dans la sphère urbaine apparaît comme une spécificité lyonnaise. Social and confessional minority, the Lyons' protestant elite appears at the last century as a coherent community. United by a multiplicity of the ties (residential, homogeneity, strong endogamy, professional cooperation and confessional complicity), it benefits from a real specificity and generates an orignal sociability without however constituting a circle closed on itself. Integrant part of Lyon's patriciaie, the protestant elites share fully in the economical, political, philantropic and fashionable of the city and have an effect upon all the fields by fare above their numerical importance. The long standing of their implantation, a bright professional standing, the precocity of an « oecumenical » stream justify this eminent position held in Lyons by the protestant middle class. This perfect protestant integration in the urban sphere appears as a specificity of Lyons. |
