Description
Summary:Because one of the major trade routes in antiquity followed the Euphrates, the ancient sites along this river are particularly significant. In recent years many of these sites, threatened by the creation of a large artificial lake, Al Assad, have been the subject of an international salvage effort. As a part of this effort, five seasons of excavations have been conducted at Tell Hadidi, yielding the essential outline of its development through more than 4,000 years.
