| Summary: | Is there a necessity to consider a university ethics? Isn’t the university already the place of a broad range of ethical studies and hasn’t it its own academic ethos? The article aims for giving a virtue ethical contribution to the project of developing a university ethics which was especially brought forward by James F. Keenan. In trying to show the deep connection between academic work and ethics as the experience of freely looking for orientation in theoretical knowledge and practical life, the two virtues of awareness and neighbourly love are presented and suggested as a fundamental basis for a university ethos. |
