Description
Summary:Since the end of the 1930s, the Innsbruck Faculty of Theology has been concerned with the relationship between theology and proclamation of faith. Several authors called for a special » Verkündigungstheologie « (Theology of Proclaiming the Faith). This led to an extensive controversy. The impulse for it had been given by J. A. Jungmann’s book » Die Frohbotschaft und unsere Glaubensverkündigung « (The Good News and our Proclamation of Faith), published in 1936. Jungmann himself did not plead for a separate form of theology; he emphasized that theological science had a different task than proclamation of faith. The latter should present the very core and substance of the kerygma. This article deals with Jungmann’s basic ideas, his role of pioneer, and his view of the discussion.
