Summary: | Since the possibility and appropriate methodology of ontology is notoriously controversial, it is interesting to examine new ontological accounts for their overt and implicit metaontological background. Kathrin Koslicki’s neo-Aristotelian approach in »Form, Matter, Substance« (Oxford 2018) offers a list of quality criteria for ontological proposals. She regards ontological concepts not as parts of an ultimate theory about the world, but as tools to structure the world in various contexts, however with prior applicability to the lifeworld. |
