Description
Summary:The edited volume Abendland (»Occident«), a collection of texts by Hugo Rahner dating back to the 1940s and subsequent years, offers a specific kind of public theology. Starting from the incarnation of the word of God, Rahner develops a theology of history which identifies »Abendland« and »Europe« and which is deeply concerned that Europe could lose its Christian heart. Although some aspects of Hugo Rahner’s ideas might still be of interest today, it is generally a testimony of the past. The church has already become a global church and Europe will no longer play a predominant role in Christianity.
