Summary:The article analyses the philological-linguistic commentary on the Song of Songs written by p. Milan Holc. The author emphasizes the importance of archaeological discoveries in the making of the commentary. The discoveries helped to understand some of the grammatical and lexicographical features of the Hebrew language. Based on the examples, the article tries to shed light on the methodological approach and evaluate the results of research from the point of view of textual criticism, grammatical peculiarities and modern exegesis.
