| Resumo: | In this paper, I explore the similarities betwen the priests of theCharismatic Renewal in the Holy Spirit movement and their rituals, and themagic makers, including their own ceremonies. Although magic has beenanalyzed by the founding fathers of anthropology and sociology, I ground myideas mainly on the proposals about the matter made by Emile Durkheim,Marcel Mauss and Max Weber. In this excersise I take into account thecontributions to the field by scholars such as Mircea Eliade, James Frazer, ClaudeLévi-Strauss, Bronislaw Malinowski, Rudolf Otto and others who have laid theground for this type of analysis. |
