The literary and religious context then is fundamentally enlarged, especially in order to investigate several related research trails, such as "polyonymy" or the so-called literary genre "metamorphosis" and finally some Christian ascetic traditions, which bear some new and significant light on the subject of polymorphy. Each of these research areas constitutes a singular and organized stage or type of the universal and "polymorphic" phenomenon of religious polymorphy in Antiquity.
