Description
Summary:The Apocryphal Acts of the Apostles have generally been located within the genre of novels. In this paper, the author attempts to question the validity of such a conclusion by examining one of these Acts─the Acts of Andrew. Utilizing a relational model of genre classification, he attempts to locate the Acts of Andrew within the trajectory of the biographies of philosophers. Aspects of both the structure and content of the Acts of Andrew are examined; and the Sitz im Leben of this work is also discussed in relation to its genre. In the final section, the generic relationship between biographies and novels is noted.
