| Zusammenfassung: | This article examines some modalities of imbrication between religion and violence at the context of violence lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.It discusses howcategories and religious practices have been experienced and mobilized by favelas dwellers victims of state violence to confront the discursive dispositives favela and favelado (those identify them with criminal environment andmarginality) and access public space seeking justice and moral repairing. It analyzes howthis confrontationworks ina specific case,studying howa murder of a favela dweller by military police has turnedhisfamily able toexpress suffering and indignation and to access a social andmoral repertoire linking political and juridical dimensions, in order to put stateviolence against population in public focus and charge the responsibles. Theirfight has been evolving the right to funeral homage and the repairing of moraldignity in rituals for pain in public space. |
