Description
Summary:Calvin's theological argumentation was shaped by the conviction of humanistic rhetoric that doctrina cannot be developed without its applicatio. The new challenges in the confessional era led to characteristic changes in theologians' work in the second half of the sixteenth century. The concept of 'theologia', which Calvin regarded as problematic, experienced a revival.
