The biblical depiction of Israel prior to its becoming a nation state reflects the situation and the hopes of post-exilic Judaism. The way in which Old Testament Judaism as God's people, but not yet a nation state, lives up to that ideal state which obeys God's commandments has become exemplary for the church. | ||
