Summary: | In the 'Joint Statement on the Doctrine of Justification' (1997), Catholic faith is seen as it was following the Council of Trent. Thus Catholics do not ascribe to 'sola fide'. They also have a completely different view of grace and the relationship to Christ as well as of human freedom and good deeds. Their clear disagreement with the Lutheran understanding of justification has not been overcome. This is shown also by the misunderstood references to romans 3:28, Philippians 2:13 and Galatians 5:6. |
