| Summary: | This article aims to socialize the main readings carried out in Europe and the USA on the religious Romanian scholar Mircea Eliade. Due to the scarcity of studies on this author in the Latin American context, a comparative reading on his productions is therefore presented aiming to spread his work and some lines of interpretation. These are differentiated in three key lines: the first line is the pejorative review which addresses the Romanian’s work as an academic translation of his fascist interests shown in his youth. The second one, mostly carried out by Eliade’s disciples, focuses on the universal contribution of his work to the knowledge and dissemination of the historical and compared study of the religious traditions. Finally, an analytical and documented key line discusses Eliade’s work and its context of production without the need of justifying an apology or diatribe on his heritage. |
