Description
Summary:In the XXI century, a scenario in which there is a religious plurality with different forms of experiencing religiosity, we are faced with the persistence of Total Religious Institutions, something that seems to refer to an inheritance of the Brazilian colonial period. Based on this observation, we sought to reflect on the meaning of the cloistered life in contemporary times. Thus, in view of the multiple possibilities of research and writing in this area, in the space of this article, we are dedicated to reflect on the reasons for the permanence of the Clausura institution in Brazil, highlighting the work of the Catholic Church and the idea of vocation, choosing as a research locus the Monastery of Santa Clara, located in the City of Campina Grande - PB.
