Summary: | Justin Beaumont and Paul Cloke's edited collection focuses on faith-based voluntary action and social exclusion in Europe. Relatively little is known about faith-based organizations in Europe when compared to the United States or the Global South, and so this book, and the research that underpins it, addresses a research lacuna. The book draws on the findings of a European project—Faith-Based Organizations and Exclusion in European Cities (FACIT)—which was funded as part of a European Union (EU) Seventh Framework Program that ran from 2008 to 2010. FACIT embraced research teams based in seven countries, six members of the EU and one EU candidate country. |
