| Итог: | The history of the Jewish people in the twentieth century is marked by three major developments: Modern Zionism and the creation of the State of Israel; racial anti-Semitism and the Holocaust; and Communism and the campaign for Soviet Jewry. While there is extensive literature dealing with the first two movements, there has been much less written about Soviet Jewry. In recent years, some key works have been published, mainly focusing on the role of the North American Jewry, as well as individual refusenik autobiographies. This volume, with its focus on the Soviet Jewish Movement is thus an important addition to this emerging literature. |
