Summary: | Recent years have seen a steady stream of quality studies on the Armenian Genocide as more evidence is brought to light and new methodological advances have been made across the disciplines. One has only to mention the magisterial work of French historian Raymond Kevorkian, whose massive The Armenian Genocide: A Complete History (standing at more than 1,000 pages) was by far the most exhaustive and exhausting study on the topic. But once in a while other scholars and writers come along whose work has the dual ability to both shape and break a paradigm simultaneously. Currently, in the field of Armenian Genocide studies, that role is occupied by Turkish sociologist turned historian Taner Akçam, chair of the Armenian Genocide studies program at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. |
