Description
Summary:Between Capital and Cathedral: Essays on Church-State Relationships comprises eight essays by prominent theological scholars and is hereby highly recommended. The essays mainly focus on the challenges facing religious institutions in post-apartheid South Africa, but several contributions also contain a wealth of historical data and references to church-state relations in other countries. The essay of Jeorg Rieger informs the reader of the state of affairs in Germany, where he grew up, and in the Bible Belt of the United States, where he currently serves as a professor of Constructive Theology in Dallas, Texas. Several essayists pay special tribute to the role of churches and other faith communities in orchestrating political change in South Africa.
