Summary: | This book supplements an earlier volume on the politics of sacred space titled, Holy Places in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Confrontation and Co-Existence (Routledge Studies in Middle Eastern Politics, 2010). Both volumes are the outgrowth of an international conference hosted in Haifa and in the Arab town Baqa al-Gharbiyya in 2006. The current volume, arranged in three parts, consists of a series of individual papers prepared by authorities specializing in anthropology, religious studies, historical geography, Islamic art and archeology, and civil, international, and religious law, as well as by an official for Common Ground, an international conflict transformation organization with headquarters in Washington, DC. |
