Summary: | Between 1932 and 1936 several famous congresses on the subject of Christian philosophy took place in France. This book offers a sample of the contributions of some of the participants. The editor, Gregory B. Sadler, is clear about the selection he had to make to put together a survey of the complex debate, which he combines with the translation of some of the lectures that were given during the debate., The book fulfills two objectives: introducing a period of the Christian philosophy debate and translating some of the contributions, which, until now, were not available in English. Serving both aims could easily lead to an unbalanced structure, but the editor has succeeded in avoiding that to a large extent by taking a descriptive and factual point of view. |
