Summary: | This book by prolific religion scholar Ivan Strenski is part of the Blackwell Manifestos series, whose aim is to address timely and important issues in ways which are accessible to scholars and general readers alike. This is a tall order in any case, but on a topic as complex, controversial, and prone to misunderstanding as the intertwining of religion and politics is even more so. Strenski defends his titular claim by interrogating the concepts of religion, power, and politics in three respective chapters and then offering a case study of Palestinian suicide bombers in the final chapter. |
