Summary:This collection of essays is a richly textured inquiry into the hope of liberation for the disenfranchised and marginalized, for those abandoned and exploited by our present “neoliberal” global economic system. Neoliberalism, argues Miguel De La Torre, the editor of this collection, is more than a decentralized, global economic order extended through an electronically connected network of markets, financial institutions, multinational corporations, and the mass media. It is also “a spirit,” or even “a faith,” and the major competitor of the world's religious traditions today “for the souls of humanity.
