Summary: | The publication of a new edition of a Greek New Testament is normally a cause for celebration. And so it is with this, the fifth edition of the United Bible Societies’ The Greek New Testament (= UBS). Preliminary discussions about this revision began in 2007. It is gratifying therefore to note the speed with which the work was completed so that it was able to be published shortly after its companion Nestle text (= NA28). The first edition of UBS was launched in 1966. Between then and 2003 it went through several editions and many reprintings. Now, with this fifth edition, we have a text that agrees with NA28, including the newly revamped text of the Catholic Epistles, as printed in the second edition of Münster's Editio critica maior vol. IV (= ECM). |
