Leuchter examines Samuel acting in three different roles—prophet, priest, and judge—but argues that the portrayal of Samuel as Levitical priest ultimately forms the basis for the other roles in which he is presented (p. 8). It is this historical Levite who, over time, is portrayed no longer as a priest but as prophet and judge. | ||
