Summary: | Not very often do we receive so much from the limited space of a single volume. It is a result of a workshop held in Cardiff University (11–12 September 2009) where a group of international scholars delivered papers on ‘Translation and Christianisation—Origins of the Latin and Syriac Commentary Tradition’. The ambitious and enriching conference has produced in turn a very welcome volume which collects together 16 studies under the editorial supervision of two academics from Cardiff University, Professor Josef Lössl and Dr John W. Watt. In the centre of the scrupulous academic investigation is the subject of the emergence and development of the connection between commentaries on the Bible and the continuing reflection on and interpretation of Aristotle’s philosophical legacy. |
