Description
Summary:The survival of Origen’s Commentary on Matthew in Greek and Latin versions, both defective, has merely compounded the difficulties of scholars, since the two versions are often intractably at odds. The importance and obscurity of the question fully justify the length of the first contribution to this volume, in which Luciano Bassano, citing the discoveries at Tura in partial vindication of Klostermann’s cautious editing of the standard text, concludes that the Greek and Latin redactions are independent witnesses to the creativity of Origenism.
