Description
Summary:The so-called Pastoral Letters (or Epistles) are often commented upon as one corpus, even if an author duly points out the differences there are between the three letters and the specificity of each of them. It is not different with the commentary by Michel Gourgues for the series CbNT. The publication of this commentary is something of an event, as it is the first one of this calibre to be published in French in over 60 years—its predecessor, that by C. Spicq in the Études bibliques, dating back to 1947 (41969)! The author has followed the model used for the series: a ten-page summary bibliography of commentaries and general studies, to be completed by the sectional bibliographies to each pericope; an almost 40-page introduction; some 340 pages of commentary; and a set of helpful indexes.
