Description
Summary:This book is a collection of papers given at a meeting of (chiefly German) patristic scholars in 2009. At the head of the collection is an important essay by Wolfram Kinzig, the first-named editor, furthering his credal research by suggesting that the growth of the liturgical year, and in particular the spread of Christmas in the East in the latter part of the fourth century, was the result of a deliberate policy of conforming the year to the newly established creeds. Kinzig’s essay is followed by a very professional and competent essay by Ulrich Volp, named second as editor, on the interrelationship between ethics and liturgy.
