There is no introduction, all matters having been dealt with in the first volume. This includes all the theological topics which occupy these pages of Gregory’s book. Gregory begins with Eunomius’ own summary of his fundamental doctrine of the Trinity (sections 151–5) from his Defence of the Defence, a long rejoinder to Basil’s criticisms of his earlier work.
