Summary:The first volume of this edition was reviewed in JTS, ns 61 (2010), pp. 349–51. I was then doubtful that they would get the rest of Book I into one further volume, but the publishers have proved me wrong. The general excellence continues. There is no introduction, all matters having been dealt with in the first volume. This includes all the theological topics which occupy these pages of Gregory’s book. Gregory begins with Eunomius’ own summary of his fundamental doctrine of the Trinity (sections 151–5) from his Defence of the Defence, a long rejoinder to Basil’s criticisms of his earlier work.
