It was popular among Neoscholastics, and was often presented as an attempt to provide a systematization of Aquinas’ thinking on the subject. As such, commentators from the past fifty or so years have rightly found it wanting. Hochschild comes up with a novel suggestion, obvious once pointed out. The work does not present itself as an interpretation of Aquinas, so it should not be read and assessed as though it were. | ||
