Summary: | One of the notable achievements which followed the collapse of communism in Europe at the end of the twentieth century was a freer exchange of ideas and research between scholars from East and West. This beautifully illustrated volume is a witness to this ongoing process, as far as Carthusian and monastic studies are concerned. It is also, in many ways, a tribute to those who pursued scholarly activities in the former, darker days behind the Iron Curtain. It contains a series of papers given at a conference organized in the Slovak Republic in September 2007. |
