Summary: | In this volume of miscellanea, John Clark has written three articles relating to the English mystical tradition. Firstly, he provides an introduction and notes concerning a Latin version of The Cloud of Unknowing, from Bodleian Library, Oxford, MS Bodley 856, the provenance of which is unknown. This is one of only two known Latin translations of this important work of English medieval spirituality, the other being that of Richard Methley of Mount Grace. Here Clark compares the translation as given in the Bodley manuscript with one particular copy of The Cloud, in British Library, MS Harley 959. |
