Description
Summary:Hans Boersma's most recent-but-one book is perhaps more interesting for what it represents than for what it argues. This is not to say that it does not offer a novel and interesting thesis in its own right (it does), but the fact of the book is in itself something of an event, insofar as it is the work of an evangelical theologian and pastor in the Reformed tradition who finds an unusual ecumenical ally in a group of Catholic theologians from the middle of the last century. There was a time, not too long ago, when the idea of someone holding a chair in theology named for J. I. Packer writing an approving book on Catholic theology might have seemed inconceivable (indeed, it may still strike some as bizarre).
