Summary: | There has been no shortage of books on the historical Jesus over the last few decades. This one is a collection of essays by 11 members of the Institute for Biblical Studies’ Jesus Group, whose declared vision is ‘to foster excellence in biblical studies, doing so within a faith commitment’, some of the contributors regarding themselves as ‘Evangelical Christian’ and others as ‘biblically orthodox Christian’. The bulk of the volume is devoted to a sequence of twelve essays (one from each contributor except Robert Webb, who supplied two) on some of the more important things the Gospels report Jesus as doing or having done to him. |
