Description
Summary:It may well be, of course, the result of any of the many factors that can determine the order of publication of books in a series, but among the 29 announced Blackwell Companions to Religion, it seems strange that the volume on Jesus should appear as the twenty-third in a predominantly Christian series of subjects. Whatever we believe about his centrality, whether in the Christian faith, or the history of religion, or the universe itself, and whatever view we take of the adequacy of the available sources, both historical and theological, Jesus remains the dominant figure in the Christian religion and the subject of endless styles of human thought, imagination, and experience. Many of these figure in the imaginative collection of essays now available in this volume.
