The book originated in Jourdan’s doctoral thesis submitted in 2007, which received the ‘Prix Adalbert Hamman 2009–2010’ established by the Association J.-P. Migne., Jourdan examines the metamorphosis of the legendary Greek hero Orpheus from his original status as a musician-seducer of wild animals. With the appearance of Christianity, Orpheus received a new role as a figure of the Saviour. | ||
