Description
Summary:Priscillian of Avila, perhaps the most celebrated ‘heretic’ of the West, continues to fascinate modern audiences, from academic scholars to popular novelists who continue to try come to grips with this fascinating figure of late antique Iberia and Gaul and his eclectic ascetic movement. This reviewer also continues to find new venues for research in what is still a topic that has hardly been exhausted, notwithstanding a rather voluminous modern bibliography which continues to grow. Marco Conti, professor at the Università Pontificia Salesiana–Rome, who is already well known for his work with the Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture and other publications in patristics, has now given us what promises to be a significant work on Priscillianism.
