| Summary: | The first volume of the Corpus Christianorum Tractates on the Psalms (CC 61) was the work of J. Doignon, who died shortly before it was published in 1997. R. Demeulenaere took over the task at Doignon’s request. For this third volume, which completes the work, Demeulenaere inherited less material than for the second (CC 61A, 2002), and he is to be congratulated on a laborious work of piety carried out with due care and attention. But the text and apparatus criticus are largely Doignon’s work., As Hilary explains in his introduction to the whole work, he thinks that everything in the psalms is to be understood in the light of the gospels and especially of the life and death of Christ: ‘sunt uniuersa allegoricis et typicis contexta uirtutibus’. |
