In the final sentences of the Introduction, Dunn gives the two theses of his book: For the first Christians worship of Jesus ‘was a way of worshipping God’, and ‘worship of Jesus is only possible or acceptable within what is now understood to be a Trinitarian framework’ (p. 6). We see in this statement the combination of historical judgement and theological/practical concerns that are woven through the book. | ||
