| Summary: | This volume supplies some supplementary material for the cartae of the Carthusian general chapter already published up to and including the year 1437. The manuscript from which this material was extracted—MS Grande Chartreuse 1 Cart. 16—was transcribed by Dom Palémon Bastin (d. 1933), and Clark has deliberately avoided reproducing material which can be found elsewhere in the cartae series of the Analecta Cartusiana and Dom Le Couteulx’s Annales. He has also omitted the accompanying necrology, which features in another volume. Dom Bastin drew from a wide range of sources, and these include material from manuscripts which are now lost, especially items copied by Dom Joseph Capus (d. c.1684). These extracts contain a few scattered references to the English charterhouses. |
