Summary: | The recent ecumenical consultations between the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches have occasioned, so the author tells us, this study. It concentrates on Cyril’s writings during the first two years of the Nestorian Controversy (viz. the period prior to the Formula of Reunion of 433, which is usually read as basically an Antiochene text in which the Bishop of Alexandria made concessions to the opposition), with particular reference to the μα ϕσις formula and its appearance and significance in Cyril’s Christology. |
