Description
Summary:The first council of Toledo, in the year 400, is known principally for its condemnation of Priscillianism. Regarding the vexed question of whether the creed, directed especially against Priscillian teachings, is—following a long tradition—to be attributed to this council, or rather to a council of 447, or to one or more individual persons, Weckwerth discusses the evidence carefully and remains uncertain (p. 64). The focus of the present study, however, which is based on the author’s recent thesis at the Catholic theological faculty of Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn, is upon the constitutio concilii.
