Summary: | Gerald O’Collins dedicates his book to the memory of Jacques Dupuis, the well-known writer on Christianity and other faiths, and the link is apt since the book fundamentally probes the issue of the universality of God's salvation beyond the Jewish and Christian communities. Probably correctly, he thinks that there has not been a Christian study of biblical material relating to the question of the unevangelized, ‘the others’ as he often calls them, and his book certainly fills this gap in its learned and accessible discussions of the relevant texts in the Old and New Testaments, including the deutero-canonical books. |
