Summary: | This collection of papers should be of interest to anyone concerned with either the state of affairs in Roman Catholicism as it sits under the authority of Scripture and of the Church's magisterium, exercised down the centuries, or with the changing face of the academic criticism of the Bible. Scripture has come to be studied in ways that are in continuous flux and without regard to the content of the magisterium. The spirit of the two could scarcely be more different, though they co-exist in numerous souls with varying degrees of comfort., Joseph Ratzinger, as both Cardinal and Pope, has long been concerned with the implicit conflict between the use of the Bible in the two different settings. |
