Summary: | Infant baptism was a theme that preoccupied the late David F. Wright, and one to which he returned time and time again. This is a collection of his many studies on the subject over a period of some twenty years. Wright was an elder in the Church of Scotland, and of the evangelical persuasion, and this coloured his approach to both the patristic and reformation evidence as well as to current debate. As with many such collections, the same material is frequently repeated, and what may have packed a punch in a single article begins to sound like a monotonous whine., Wright firmly believed that infant baptism could be defended theologically, but not historically. |
